Twenty Years Ago: Making Your Windows Computer Look Like a Mac

"If you're the kind of person who appreciates something different, you'll like WindowBlinds, a utility that can totally change the graphical user interface of Windows. You can make Windows look like a Macintosh, a Linux system, or a computer from some other planet." That's what I wrote in November 2000.

Michigan's Star Dock Corporation, said the goal of WindowBlinds is to give users the power to make Windows look and feel the way they want it to. "Products such as, cars, cell phones, and refrigerators, come in many shapes and sizes. Yet every PC and every Macintosh looks essentially the same."

The application was fun, but it slowed the computer's operation. In the 20 years since I wrote about the company, Star Dock Corporation has become just Stardock and is still offering tools that allow user to customize their computers.
