"The trouble is not in your set"
In the olden days, television stations used to put up a slide that said "The trouble is not in your set" whenever there was a program problem. Maybe the network feed was down. Or maybe the clown who did the children's program had consumed a bit too much ale at lunch and fell asleep before airtime. For whatever reason, there was nothing to put on the air, so the put up the test pattern. In the 1940s and 1950s, that probably meant you saw the Indian Head monoscope pattern that RCA created in 1939.
Due to circumstances beyond my control, there will be no program this week. TechByter Worldwide will return next week on most of this same Internet.
